Today we celebrated the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! It was a rainy day here in Arizona but that didn't put a damper on our wonderful day.
The two older kids were up at 6:00 a.m. ready to go! We made them go back to bed until at least Myles got up which ended up being 7:30 a.m. We got Adalyn out of bed and enjoyed watching our 4 children open their gifts! It was a fun morning, full of laughter and giggles, smiles and all the things that melt a mother's heart. There is no greater joy than to watch my children having fun and celebrating the birth of our Savior.
After all the gifts had been opened, Chris made a wonderful breakfast of sausages and french toast! We then put the two little one's down for a nap and enjoyed a quiet afternoon. I took a nap, Chris helped Broedy with his lego set and they played his new Wii game.
After the kids got up we had Christmas dinner complete with Ham, potatoes, green beans, rolls and applesacue. It was really good and everyone enjoyed it.
We then opened our last advent envelope. We read the Christmas story and lite the last candle in our advent wreath, the Christ Candle and then we had a birthday party for Jesus. Complete with cake and ice cream!
It was a great day! Tomorrow morning my parents fly in and we'll celebrate Christmas with them!
One of my main reasons for doing the advent calendar this year was that I really wanted to carve out special evenings with my family. I got what I wanted and as I look back at all the pictures of the last month, I smile at the memories made. The evenings spent with my four precious children doing simple, but special activities. The nights reading books, playing games, doing crafts, enjoying a special treat together before bedtime and reading scripture as a family. It's been a great month and it was nice to have those special activities to focus on each day when life felt like it was spinning out of control with all the stress and business the Christmas season brings to me now that I am adult.
Enjoy this video (and scroll down and pause the music at the bottom of my blog before you start the video or you will have two songs playing at once)!
