2. I've failed yet another mothering task. I just can't seem to do anything right lately and feel like I'm failing in almost every aspect of my life right now. The advent calendar this year pushed me even further over the edge and I feel awful. I got it up 3 days late (which should of been my first sign) and while the calendar is supposed to be a fun thing, it was quickly turning into yet another thing I was failing at. I took it down yesterday. I know the kids are disappointed and I feel awful but I just couldn't keep up with it and every day it was another reminder of something I was failing at. Between me having college class one night a week, having to work another night a week and then all the "extra" events my job has required me to be at lately and the endless school meetings and events we have had, I just couldn't seem to make it work. Every night was quickly turning into a meltdown because we didn't get to our advent activity and it was already way past bedtime. I'm not sure if it's the fact that the kids get home so much later here in MI (we don't get home from school/work until 4:30 or later most nights) than they did in AZ or what, but it was just a failure this year. I'm going to have to rethink the whole advent calendar for next year and see if maybe I have life somewhat under control by December.
3. Today is my last final exam. So glad to be done with this semester!
4. I finally got daycare figured out! I rearranged my work and college schedule next semester so that I'm not gone during pick up time from school for the kids. I will have to drive to GVSU twice on Tuesdays because of it but I think I have a schedule that will actually be much smoother than what the past few months have been. It's been a nightmare trying to get someone to pick up the kids after school on the days I had college and then having to move car seats and all that jazz every week. It was just one of those things that just added to my already high stress level so here's hoping the new schedule goes well!
5. I'm not even close to being done with Christmas shopping. Guess what I'll be doing this weekend between Christmas parties and events at church? Yeah, shopping! Can you tell I'm
6. We missed out on a big snowstorm this past week and I know it sounds crazy, but I'm bummed! I was looking forward to a snow day with the kids this week and I didn't get it. Maybe after the holidays we'll get lucky and get a big storm that will close school down!
7. I've realized that I HATE wearing a winter coat. Even though it's cold, I've been wearing my fleece jacket and just bringing my winter coat with me in the car in case I end up stranded or something.
8. I received my first Christmas gift today! A keychain! Mine shattered when I dropped my keys awhile back and my friend and boss, Sheree knew about it and got me a new keychain. It says, "I can do all things through Christ" PHIL 4:13 and it totally fits me and where I am in life right now. I love it! Thanks Sheree!
9. I learned how to use the sound board at Church today! I'm doing sound for an event tomorrow night and I'm actually excited about it! Little things thrill me;-)
10. Fudgy the Elf is still showing up at our house every morning and Myles is in love with him. It's the first thing he looks for when he gets up every morning!
