4th of July Weekend!

Thursday afternoon we packed up and headed north to Stoneman Lake to go camping with our friends, John & Stephanie and their kids. Unlike Michigan camping, in Arizona many people camp in the forest where it is very primitive which means no water, electricity or toilets! It was a new experience and was a lot of fun. We just went out into the forest, pulled off the side of the road into an area where you could tell people had camped before and set up camp!

Friday morning we got up and went for a hike to explore the area!

Hiking back up the hill. We started to head down to check out the lake but the trail go too steep to take the little kids on, so we headed back up!

Adalyn hanging out in her pack n play!

Gathering wood that Chris had chopped up for the fire!

Myles loved helping with the wood!

The girls did better than the boys at gathering wood!

Starting a fire.

Setting up camp! You can see our camper in the background and then our friends had tents that they set up. We set up our tables and food area where the blue tarp is.

A beautiful sunset!

The eating area all set up!

The boys eating snacks.

Myles played with the trucks for hours.

The two little girls in matching pj's!

Jenna & Raelyn watching a movie (we had a generator)....yes, we cheated! We also had water in our camper:-)

Myles all ready for bed!

It started to rain on Friday night, so we gave the kids very quick baths (since we were trying to conserve water) and then put a movie in for them to watch. It only ended up raining for about 20 minutes but the kids had fun watching a movie anyways!

John had fun playing in the fire!

Chow time!

Saturday morning we got up and headed to Morman Lake. We heard there was a small town there and we wanted to check out the area. We were also on the search for water since we were starting to run low and I was getting nervous!

The Morman Lake Village was awesome! A small, little town in the middle of no where with a population of 50 to 5000 (that is what the sign said!). There were a ton of cottages, campers, and a ton of people anda lot of stuff going on. We did find water...at 10 cents a gallon we stocked up and filled our camper back up so we could take showers.

They had a petting zoo where the kids got to pet baby goats.

And they had a play area where the kids played.

Chris & Adalyn

Adalyn was tired so we put her in the backpack. While we were walking around town, we found out they were having a parade at 2:00 for the 4th of July. We decided to stay and check it out! It was awesome! All the local people just decorated floats, trucks and quads and held a parade. They threw out a TON of candy. It was a lot of fun to be in such a small town with that small town feel to it!

Jenna & Raelyn

Watching everyone line up. This was Mt. Rushmore!

Waiting for the parade to start!

The girls!

The start of the parade!

One of the floats! Check out all the people lined up!

The statue of liberaty.

You could tell the local people had a lot of fun decorating their cars.

Myles sat in this seat the whole time holding on to his candy!

Broedy moved away from us and started to collect his own candy pile!

All the kids lined up!

After the parade, we ate lunch and let the kids play some more. We took a drive up to flagstaff to check out some more stuff and then headed back to camp to eat dinner and get ready to head back to Morman Lake Village for the fireworks!

Adalyn at the fireworks. They kids got glow necklaces at the parade so we wore them for the fireworks!

The kids playing in the field waiting for the fireworks to start.
