The Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Ranch

Today we went to The Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Ranch located in Picacho, AZ! Yes, you read that right....an Ostrich Ranch and yes the owner's name really is Rooster Cogburn! It's a family owner ranch and you can tell these people just love their ostrichs. I had read about it on a friend's blog and we decided to go and check it out. It was a riot! Very redneck, but a blast and something I think everyone in this area should go check out!

They have a lot of animals and we got to feed them all!
Our 1st stop of the day was to feed the deer.

Broedy & Raelyn had fun feeding the deer.

Even Myles joined in on the fun and wasn't scared at all.

All the deer. They came running when they saw the food!

I even fed them!

They were very gentle and fun to feed.

After we fed the deer, we headed over to check out the ostrichs'. They acted like they were starving. They don't have teeth but they do bite.

Broedy tried his hand at feeding them!

And Chris was brave enough to let them eat out of his hand.

Grandpa Bill fed them too!

And after watching everyone else, I finally got brave enough to try it.

Next on our journey was the donkeys!

The kids liked feeding the donkeys.

After all that excitement was over, we climbed on this Monster Truck!

See how big this thing is? Broedy looks little:-) Our driver was a female from Oklahoma and she was crazy! I'm telling you it doesn't get more redneck than riding on a big Monster Truck with a female driver from Oklahoma! She was very good at her job and we had a great time on the monster truck ride. Yeehaw!

We learned all about Ostrichs and also a lot about the desert and the plants and stuff that grow here.

Here Broedy is holding an ostrich egg. They are huge. They weigh almost 4 lbs and you can stand on one! Seriously the crazy lady from Oklahoma (our driver) stood on one! One Ostrich egg is about the same as 2 dozen chicken eggs.

Myles & Chris in the back of the monster truck!

Me & Adalyn! She was so good on the ride.

At the end of our ride we did another redneck thing. Are you ready for this?
We went Ostrich Fishing!

Yes, Ostrich Fishing! It was a blast. They backed us up to this "dock" where they had fishing pools. We would put grapefruit on the end of our hook and fish for Ostrichs! We were told if we actually caught one and got them up on the "dock" we could keep them:-)

Chris & Myles fishing for Ostrich.

Broedy had fun and liked to wave the grapefruit around and make the Ostrich's dance.

Check them out!

Raelyn helping Grandma Kay fish for an Ostrich!

Grandpa, Grandma and Raelyn

Myles and I fishing!

After that excitement we went into the bird house and fed the birds.

Me & Adalyn.

She kept trying to touch the birds.

Chris, Raelyn & Myles. Raelyn didn't like the birds very much.

Grandma & Grandpa

Check out all those birds!

Broedy loved the birds. We had a hard time getting him to come out of the bird house.

Myles gives it a try.

Myles wasn't quite so sure and kept his distance.

Chris had fun as well!

After watching us feed all the animals, Adalyn pretty much demanded I feed her as well:-)

Then we headed home! Broedy had my camera and took pictures in the car!

My baby girl!

Me in the backseat next to Myles!

Broedy took this of himself!

Grandma!

So if you ever in the area, you'll have to check out the Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Farm! You won't be disappointed! While we were there we bought an Ostrich Egg to eat. I'll have to post pictures of our egg when we actually cook it up and eat it!

I'm so glad you guys had fun! It's hard to imagine how crazy the whole experience is unless you actually go and experience it yourself isn't it?

Loved all the pictures!
