When I was a child we lived in a small cul-da-sac and we had some very special neighbors.
Mr. & Mrs. Green lived across the street and they were like grandparents to us. One thing that always happened in our neighborhood was the delivery of goodies! Every Holiday we would get treats and homemade goodies from Mrs. Green. I can still remember the chocolate from McDonald's chocolate factory for Halloween and the Easter Cupcakes made with coconut that was dyed green to make it look like grass.
Christmas was always my favorite and Mrs. Green always made the best sugar cookies and would decorate them so cute! I looked forward to those goodie trays every year from her. It became a tradition in our household. My Mom would always return the favor and would bake up all her tradition Christmas goodies and we would deliver them to the neighboors.
When I got married this tradition was one I wanted to keep! I decided that no matter where we lived we would deliver goodie trays of yummy homemade treats to our neighbors for Christmas! The first house we lived in Chris and I would deliver cookies to our neighbors and then we got lucky and moved into my old house (the house I grew up in) and I had the privledge to deliver goodies to the one and only Mr. & Mrs. Green and I looked forward to once again getting those goodie trays from them.
Although we no longer live in Michigan and I don't get treats from Mr. & Mrs. Green anymore, every year I keep that tradition alive. Last night and today I did my Holiday baking and tonight my family delivered goodie trays to neighbors & friends. And while we were out delivering those goodie trays, I thought of Mr. & Mrs. Green. I am so grateful that she started that traditon so many years ago. I hope that the trays of goodies we delivered tonight will warm the hearts of those we delivered them to just as Mrs. Green blessed us all those years with her homemade goodness! How I miss living next to her and her wonderful husband!
Some of the trays ready to be wrapped up!

The trays after they had been wrapped up! I got pretty fancy this year and it was a lot of fun!

Isn't it pretty!?!?
